Fleetwood Creek Natural Area
Fleetwood Creek Natural Area provides visitors with the opportunity to discover and experience a distinctive part of Ontario's natural heritage while ensuring its long-term protection. This 380 hectare (900 acre) property is managed by Kawartha Conservation for the Ontario Heritage Trust (OHT).
The Fleetwood Creek Natural Area is a river valley system. It contains lowland forests, hardwood bush, meadows and steep valleys.There are over 250 kinds of plants and 44 types of birds in the Fleetwood Creek Natural Area, including wild turkey that were reintroduced into the region during the 1980s.
A variety of geological formations caused by the past glacial period can be found in and around the area, including kames, kettles, eskers and ice-contact ridges. A large part of the Fleetwood Creek property is designated as a Provincially Significant Earth and Life Science Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI).
